In May last year, Bauer Aviation Advisory launched its Advisory Board. Meet the sixth industry heavyweight to now join the Board: Bernard Dunn, the former President of Boeing in the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

“We are delighted to welcome Bernard,” said Linus Benjamin Bauer, Founder and Managing Director at Bauer Aviation Advisory. “He is internationally recognized and well respected as a highly experienced leader in the world of aviation.”

Dunn’s credentials indeed make him one of the more well-known figures in the region’s aviation scene. Between 2017 and 2020, he was named among the Middle East’s Top 100 Executives and Top 50 Business Leaders for four consecutive years by US magazine Forbes.

The industry veteran owes his reputation to a career spanning more than four decades, three of which he spent living and working in the Middle East. His spell in the region started through a military career in Jordan, Yemen, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and The Pentagon, with combat experience alongside Arab Forces in Kuwait, and separately in Iraq.

Dunn then transitioned to the corporate world, and served ITT Defense (now L3Harris) and Boeing for a decade each. At L3Harris, he latterly was a Vice President of Business Development for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and at Boeing, Dunn spent six years at the helm of the company’s Middle East, Turkey and Africa division.

During his tenure, Dunn oversaw $140 billion in commercial sales (list prices) and $55 billion in defence sales, before stepping down from his role late last year. He left Boeing’s regional division four times the size (headcount) when he was flown into the top seat.

“Bernard brings to our Advisory Board an unparalleled network of influencers across the spectrum of aerospace, defence, and the commercial aviation sector. His appointment reflects the emphasis we place on providing unrivalled, game-changing engagement solutions for our clients and partners,” said Bauer.

Founded in 2020, Bauer Aviation Advisory provides a range of management consulting services to the aviation sector, including airlines, airports and ecosystem players. The firm operates with hybrid model – the core team is complemented by a network of independent experts with a deep track record in the industry.

“Bauer Aviation Advisory has rapidly generated trust and strong credibility among the region’s top aviation consulting firms, and I look forward to working with the team to deliver strategic counsel,” said Dunn, who will combine his role with a number of other non-executive positions and his own advisory boutique, BJ Dunn & Associates.
