UAE internal audit association signs agreement with Deloitte
With the aim of further professionalising the internal audit profession in the UAE, the region’s Internal Audit Association has signed a memorandum of understanding with Deloitte.
Operating as the official affiliate of the Internal Audit Association (IIA) in the UAE since 2006, the UAE branch has as its mission to advocate and promote the internal auditing profession throughout the seven emirates. Among its activities, the professional body creates thought leadership, organizes conferences and events, and offers trainings.
In driving its mission forward, the UAE Internal Audit Association is now teaming up with Deloitte, one of the globe’s largest professional services firms.
Signed at the Audit Summit that was held in Abu Dhabi last week, UAE IAA chairman Abdulqader Obaid Ali said the agreement represents a milestone in its journey to enhance the standards of the profession.
The agreement outlines the efforts the UAE IAA and Deloitte will undertake in the coming years to grow the maturity of practitioners and enable the adoption of emerging technologies, with the likes of robotic process automation, artificial intelligence and process mining offering internal audit functions opportunities to boost their value and reduce mundane workload.
Commenting on the collaboration, Deloitte Middle East partner Mohammed Khamees Al Tah said: “This agreement marks a significant milestone in our journey to enable the internal audit profession in the UAE and we look forward to collaborating with like-minded professionals to develop agility, enhance efficiency, and add value.”
