A Chartered Professional Accountant, Almasri brings more than 15 years of international audit experience across Canada and Saudi Arabia to Grant Thornton. He has built his career across both Big Four and large mid-tier firms, leading complex audit and assurance assignments for organisations ranging from listed companies to multinational groups.
His sector experience spans manufacturing, transportation, real estate, utilities, hospitality, financial services, and not-for-profit organisations.
“Known for his hands-on leadership and strong technical oversight, Abdelkhaleq is recognised for delivering seamless coordination across teams while maintaining the highest standards of regulatory and professional compliance. His cross-border experience enables him to provide pragmatic, commercially focused solutions in increasingly complex regulatory environments,” noted Grant Thornton in a statement.
Sofia Raptopoulou has joined Grant Thornton in its Supply Chain Management practice, part of the Advisory business.
Sofia Raptopoulou is a global supply chain and logistics leader with more than 20 years of experience driving innovation, operational transformation, and technology adoption across multiple industries.
She previously co-founded and led the development of a European Commission-funded last-mile delivery platform, which received national recognition for excellence in logistics innovation. Her career also includes leading digital transformation and automation initiatives within the UAE ports sector, where she drove the integration of IoT, AI, and advanced operational technologies.
“Sofia’s international experience across strategy, sustainability, and performance analytics enables her to deliver forward-thinking solutions that enhance efficiency, resilience, and long-term competitiveness across global supply chains,” said Grant Thornton in a statement.
Bassem Abdelrahman has been brought on board as a Senior Manager in the Assurance business.
Based in Riyadh, Abdelrahman has over 11 years of assurance experience across the Middle East. He has led high-profile engagements for multinational corporations and large family-owned businesses across Egypt, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
His technical expertise spans IFRS and Egyptian GAAP, with sector experience covering construction, real estate, manufacturing, retail, pharmaceuticals, logistics, hospitality, and services. Before joining Grant Thornton, he worked with Grant Thornton in Dubai and spent a decade with PwC in Cairo.
“Bassem provides strategic direction and technical guidance across a diverse portfolio of assurance engagements, supporting clients as they navigate evolving regulatory and reporting environments,” Grant Thornton highlighted.
Rounding off the senior new hire cohort is Mohammed Haque, a Senior Manager in the Tax and Zakat Services arm.
