Arab Federation of Capital Markets and WMSJ to deliver ISSB training course
The Arab Federation of Capital Markets (AFCM) has launched a new training course focused on sustainability disclosure standards. The programme has been developed in conjunction with consultancy firm WMSJ.
Headquartered in Beirut, the Arab Federation of Capital Markets is a regional organisation that brings together stock exchanges and capital market authorities across the Arab world. It acts as a coordinating and advisory body aimed at strengthening cooperation between Arab financial markets, improving regulatory alignment, and supporting the development and integration of regional capital markets.
One of its core objectives is to help industry practitioners remain at the forefront of market developments, which it achieves through learning and development initiatives, training, and knowledge-sharing.
The new training course, ‘Introduction to IFRS ISSB Sustainability Disclosure Standards’, forms part of this broader effort to equip professionals with an understanding of evolving regulatory requirements. As an official education licensee of the IFRS Foundation, WMSJ has been selected to design and deliver the programme.
The two-day training will provide participants with a solid foundation in IFRS sustainability disclosure requirements, including sustainability-related and climate-related risks and opportunities, governance frameworks, strategic integration, and reporting readiness. The course will focus on the two core standards, IFRS S1 and IFRS S2.
Issued by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 are global reporting standards designed to help companies disclose consistent and comparable information on sustainability-related risks and opportunities that could affect enterprise value. The standards operate under the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Foundation.
